Review

Probably the most ambitious gay adult movie yet made, this one is sure to make you sit up and take notice. Whether you can actually get off to it is another question entirely.

Although not really plot-driven an element of story does exist... somewhat. DiMarco is some sort of fantasy master, causing dreamscapes to appear right before the viewer's eyes. Actually, that's not even a real acurate description, but then again there's really no way to describe it.

Let's try this: Think Rocky Horror meets a gothic Meatloaf video on VH-1 that has a horrific run-in with Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and you're on the right track.

Basically, it's a terrific showcase for the normally straight-porn director Ninn and his killer costume, make-up and set-design team (Colbert directed the hardcore stuff, by the way). Speaking of which, the make-up and fantasy stuff are beyond reproach, and probably will never be duplicated. The photography and overall air of depraved gothicness are sure to get you going (it looks quite amazing on DVD, that's for sure). The problem is - is it "too much" to get off to? Fans of Titan's Fallen Angel II: Descending's "fantasy edit" version will know what I'm talking about: sure it's gorgeous and insanely intense to look at, but everything's moving too damned fast!

Still, I doubt you'll ever see anything in gaypornland this ambitious ever again (the sequence where the statues come to life is a true jaw-dropper) and the sex is exquisitely filmed. You get everything from surrealistic set pieces, full-on body shaving and gargoyle statues becoming sex surrogates, to leather enslaved boys, flying birds amongst the madness and enough whitewashing facial cumshots to choke a housepainter.

A must-own for set design fanatics and collectors, to be sure.
